Will your probes work with any AFM?
Yes, APPNANO probes are compatible with most commercially available AFMs, including those manufactured by Veeco, Asylum Research, Agilent Technologies (Molecular Imaging) , JPK Instruments, NT-MDT, Nanosurf, Pacific Nanotechnology, Ambios Technology, Nanotec, DME, Infinitesima, Novascan, Keyence, Seiko, Nanonics, Bruker AXS (SIS Systems), Anfatec, Jeol, and others.
Will your probes work with AFMs that require mounted probes?
Yes, APPNANO probes work with AFMs that require mounted probes. You may mount our probes yourself if you wish. In addition, our customer support team can assist you in mounting your own probes. As an extra support to our customers, APPNANO supplies mounted probes for AFMs manufactured by Pacific Nanotechnology Systems (PNI), Ambios Technology, Quesant Systems and Park Systems.
Will your probes work with AFMs requiring alignment grooved probes such as Nanosurf / Brucker AXS?
Yes, APPNANO probes have grooves on the backside. These grooves are compatible with the alignment chips used by Nanosurf and Brucker AXS (SIS) systems. Additionally, our grooves are adjusted such that the laser spot is always at the free end of the cantilever irrespective of its length.
How do I know which probe is best suited for my applications?
At the top of website under “Products”, choose “Choosing a Probe” from the drop down menu, and then choose “By Application.” This will give you a list of the most common uses of our probes and the recommended probe for that application. What is the range of probe spring constants that you offer?
AppNano offers probes with spring constants that range from 100N/m to 0.035N/m. If you need a probe with a higher or lower spring constant, give us a call at (408) 567-0115 or email us at support@appnano.com and we will work with you to modify a probe suited for your needs.
What hardened probes do you offer?
The hardened probes that we offer are diamond-like carbon (suffix -DLC) coated probes.
What are the sharpest probes that you offer?
APPNANO offers a “super sharp” (suffix -SS) option for probes in our ACT series, ACL series, FORT series, SICON series, and our SHOCON series.
What range of cantilever length do you offer?
APPNANO offers probes with lengths ranging from 50μm to 450μm. If you need a longer or shorter probe than what we offer, we would be happy to work with you to create a custom probe for your application.
Do you offer a mounting service for your probes?
Yes, we do offer mounting service for APPNANO probes upon request.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, APPNANO will ship internationally. For a better service however we encourage you to contact our one of the distributors in your area.

I have a special project. Will AppNano work with me to create a custom probe?
If we do not already have a probe that will suit your needs, AppNano will work with you to produce a custom probe for your needs. Our state of the art manufacturing and characterization facilities provide us with an unlimited space in which to create the perfect probe to meet your needs.
What kind of coatings do you offer on your probes?
APPNANO offers aluminum reflex coating (suffix -A), gold reflex coating (suffix -G), gold tip and reflex side coating (suffix -GG). EFM Probes are platinum-iridium ( Pt-Ir) coated and MFM probes are Cr/Co coated.

How do I know the spring constant, resonance frequency, or cantilever length of a certain probe?
On the left hand side of any main page, there is a diagram entitled “Quick Reference Guide.” Here you can find all of the specifications for each of our probes including spring constant, resonance frequency, cantilever length, coating options, super sharp (-SS) options and tipless (-TL) options.
Is there any way to try to probes before I decide which is best suited for my application?
Yes. APPNANO offers samples of probes so that you may try before you decide which would work best for you. Just call (408) 567-0115 or send an email to sales@appnano.com for more information on the sampling program.
Do you offer any sort of combination box if I am not sure what kind of application suits my project?
Yes, APPNANO will create a combination box to suit your needs for whatever applications you may be pursuing. Feel free to contact us to discuss combination box options.
